What We Value

Social Commitment

In 2007, Jonathan Osha founded the non-profit Comp-U-Dopt in Houston, Texas. Supported by a group of likeminded colleagues who were firm in the belief that every child deserves equal access to education and opportunity, they started what was essentially a home-grown project.

John realized that the life cycle of a computer in a corporate environment is typically less than three years. Usually sent to landfills or shelved, these lightly used tools can become a dream come true for young learners ready to broaden their skills and knowledge.

Over time, in addition to collecting, refurbishing and redistribuing computers, the organization grew their service offerings to include high quality, hands-on, project-based after school programming that aligned with high-demand careers and work opportunities. Fifteen years later, Comp-U-Dopt has (to date) distributed over 60,000 free computers to underserved youth, and is currently operating in 24 cities across 16 states.

To this day, John remains actively involved in the direction and philanthropic activities of the organization. He is president and member of Comp-U-Dopt's current board of directors. His vision and passion are a driving force in Comp-U-Dopt's mission of bridging the digital divide and supporting the future of youth in communities across the U.S. and globally.

OBWB partner Carlyn Burton also sits on Comp-U-Dopt's board of directors and is active in the initiatives and on-going projects of the organization.

OBWB is a regular supporter of Comp-U-Dopt's events and campaigns. Our firm is thrilled to not only be affiliated with—but an integral part of—an organization that is having such a positive impact in communities across the United States, equipping the young leaders of tomorrow with the tools and education for success.
